...and I like it

"You are so weird, but I love you."

My hubby. One romantic fellar,
amirite?
That was said last night as I was cooking dinner.
And in truth, I am a bit odd.
I'll give it to him and anyone else that calls me such.

And you know what?
I LIKE IT!

[Speaking of, watch this video. For me. It makes me giggle hysterically]

Now that you've been exposed to some of my slightly off kilter humor,
Let's clue you in on some more fabtastically awkwardly and supremely
WEIRD FACTS!
about lil ol' me.

I don't taste things when I cook.
Ever. I don't like tasting things in their components, I want to eat it when it's done. And to clarify, it's not done until it's on my plate. Funnily enough most of what I cook turns out fabulously.

'The Nose Thing'
[My husband is helping me write this]
When I smile at someone I love, or am saying something cute, I guess I wrinkle my nose. Like a bunny. I don't actually realize I'm doing it, so I can't tell or show you precisely what it looks like. But apparently I do it!

My Alter Ego
For anyone who knows me, I tend to be a sweet, caring, kind as I can be, accommodating and giggly person. I'm quite feminine, though I don't always dress such, and I like to be a modern day susie homemaker. But that all changes when we play video games [RPG style, as in following a storyline and not like shoot each other in the damn face]. To put it lightly, I'm an evil bitch. (his words, mind you) I play my video games as an escape from reality. So naturally, why would I want to be just like I am in real life? I play the most murderous thieving people I can get away with without having to fight my way through every town I come to. One time, my husband and I made a baby in Fable 3 [yeah it was pretty cool], and it was a villain. Straight up. We'd bring it babysitters, and then beat them in front of it, and it giggled. It was HI-larious. At least I thought so. But yes, that pretty much sums up my video gaming style. Hate me later?

My Chinese Food Dilemma
I find myself wondering what the opposite of a food snob is.. Because when it comes to chinese food, that is exactly what I am. [whatever that word may be]. I don't often like what is considered 'good chinese food', as in the variety found in most restaurants. There are some I like. But they are incredibly few and far between. But want to know what my ultimate go to gluttonous need me some awesome food is? Safeway deli chow mein, or nearly anything from Panda Express. How sad is that? Omgosh it like makes my mouth water right now just thinking about it.

yep that's my chinese face

I still haven't figured out why. Maybe because I'm like an ultra American and can't appreciate foreign cuisine? Who knows. All I know is that I love me some drive thru chinese food.

Now that you know some of the weirdest things about me,
here's something I'm rather proud of!

Amanda from Bringing Up Allie hired me to do a design for her!
and I think it turned out great, if I do say so myself!

Drop by and give her some love from me!
Plus she has some precious new pics of her little babe.
Definitely a heart warmer.

So what do you think is one of your weirdest traits?

Coffee Date [Ugh Coffee]

If you were joining me for coffee what would you tell me? How does your hubby feel about your blog?

That's the question today over with Alissa at Rags to Stitches.
And may I just say, the thought of coffee, totally bogus.
When I come home, want to blog, want to talk,
the last thing I want to smell anymore is coffee.
True story.
But I could make you one!

That's how I'd start out.
Making you a coffee if we were at my coffee shop this morning.
I'd come around and settle at one of the three little tables,
we'd chit chat as we watched the people go by.

I'd tell you that my job is, overall, going well.
I'm still enjoying the people, the tasks,
even though I still have really stressful really bad days.
The good outweighs the bad though, so I can't really complain.
I'd tell you we're going to be able to start moving in this weekend!
Slowly, mind you, but still! I'm so stoked.
I can't wait to get some of these boxes clogging my miniscule L shaped hallway into the new house, just so it don't feel so damn claustrophobic.
I also discovered a love of spackling.
I have no idea why, but I absolutely adore it.
It's so easy and makes everything so pretty and uniform.
I guess it speaks to my neurotic mind, sets it at ease.

After we caught up on your neck of the woods,
we'd segwae artfully into the other question posed.
How does my hubby feel about my blog.
You know what? I think I'll have him tell you...

So. Hi there, I'm Mr. White. I'd have to tell you that I absolutely love what the discovery of blogging has done to my wife. The community has made her happier, allowed her to stretch her creative muscles in ways she didn't have the option to before. And being involved with it, offering ideas, inspirations, and sarcastic comments that fetch me a quick hit to the shoulder; has been very rewarding. She gets so excited when people enjoy her blog, when her views or followers goes up. That's the biggest reward to me. Seeing her smile. So I'd have to thank you. Thanks for being another source of smiles for my lovely wife.

Awww man isn't he awesome?
and yes he's like that all the time.
and no, I didn't coach him what to say.
I just asked if he'd write something on what he honestly felt about me blogging.
And that's what he came up with!
Yeah I admit, I pretty much live in a fairy tale.

That was also his first publication of blogging!
So leave him some love and let him know what you thought.
I'm sure he'd love to hear it.
Anyway, I gotta finish gettin ready for ma Friday!
TGIF man. TGIF.
Stay cool my friends!

Bloggy Bookclub Week 4

Hey y'all!
It's Wednesday!
That means more of my bloggy bookclub shenanigans!
Thanks go out to miss Katlyn for her, as always, great questions!

"Do you feel that if the author had made Ana more experienced that this novel would have been so interesting?"
Maybe. I don't fault her for being a virgin and never having attraction to a man, yada yada. It made an interesting development in the beginning of the book. BUt perhaps for the fact that it seemed the only dimension she carried? That made it grow old pretty quickly. I'm all for giving characters a shot, even characters that don't strike me as particularly interesting. I give them their fair stand. but when they don't develop? Don't transverse past a certain literary point? It's like 'all right, moving on.' Can't help it. Wonder what I started focusing on? Wondering what Mrs. Robinson looked like. I can't help it. I imagine Shirley Maclaine from 'Rumor Has It', where she was portrayed as the 'real Mrs. Robinson'. I'm still unsure if I find that hilarious or wrong.

"What was your first thought when Christian wouldn't let Ana touch him?"
Well, to be honest, at the very first, I thought it was a part of power play. You know, not being able to touch without permission sort of thing. But as it transformed a bit, I began to realize it had some more depth and curiosity to it. I'm still honestly confused about the whole thing, beyond that it has obviously stemmed from some sort of abuse, whether it was from his mother, or some kind of residual resentment as being a helpless submissive beneath Mrs. Robinson, I'm not quite sure. Either way, I thought it brought an interesting mix of speculation and intrigue about the ever mysterious Mr. Grey.

"Why do you think Christian Grey has made BDSM such a massive part of his life? Do you feel that this is a natural sexual desire?"
BDSM, like any 'life style choice', is it's own community. When you're involved in it, it's a very big aspect of your thought patterns and interest. It's just like any other hobby. Such as sailing. Why do boaters make sailing such a massive part of their life? Because they enjoy it and it's something they like doing. As for being a natural sexual desire, I think it can be. Is it natural for everyone? No. But I definitely understand the dynamics behind it, and have always found it fascinating, and yes, arousing. So if it ever seems like I'm speaking from some sort of experience, I am. Though no where near as in depth as that which is portrayed within this particular story.

SOooo sketchy am I lately!
Again, in case you haven't heard,
we're gearing up for moving.
LOTS of packing. And lots of me worrying over our landlord,
and getting our security deposit back,
and getting our utilities shut off/moved [still haven't done]
and excitement over my job [going phenomenally]
and the heat [I get so disgustingly unhappy when it's so damn hot!]
and getting my current designs finished before the move,
and a myriad of other things I can't even think of right now.
Currently one of them is heartburn! Fuckin gross.
So the fact that I got stopped long enough to post is a MIRACLE!

Also, if you're up for a laugh, see the different sides of opinions of Fifty Shades of Grey,
Through song!!

Sorry, had to share, I found it hilarious

I hope your summer is going beautifully for you so far,

Calling for Some Backup

Hey y'all!
Guess what's really exciting?
Me and the Mr. are going to begin moving in about a week!
Gah I'm so freakin excited!

No more one bedroom apartment.
No more lack of room to truly do anything.
No more teeny tiny kitchen!
No more hardly able to have any company for lack of space.
I am so damn thrilled!!

We're going to be moving into a two floor house,
Out in the country,
with a nice lawn and a garage.
And we can have our dogs again!
That is a big plus in our world.

So, why am I telling you this?
Well...I'm looking for some help!

So unless you're thinking of coming and helping us lug boxes,
{By the way, totally excited for decorating as well!}
I was wondering if anyone would like to help guest post on my blog!
I'm thinking of filling up about two weeks or so as much as I can.
Because I know we're going to have a lot on our hands with cleaning,
and moving. And then seeing how to set up internet out there.
{We're still not sure how to accomplish that, eeps!}

So if you're interested, [and I hope you are!]
please get in touch with me!
Dates will range from July 16th-around the end of July.
You can write about whatever you'd like;
DIY, Recipes, Crafts, Your shop, your blog, just about anything your heart could desire!

Why Blog Designing Chaps My Ass Sometimes

Hey party peeps.
I hope your week is goin fantastically.
I know mine hasn't been so bad so far.
The cash flow is really pickin up, and I'm lovin it!
From more design jobs to my first paycheck expected today,
ya know it's hard out here for a pimp.
Sorry just had to.
Regardless, it's been a pleasant and uplifting surprise.

But with the sweet does come the sour.
And while I've loved working with the ladies I've designed for so far,
we all know that life isn't perfect, and even when you're doing something you love,
there are definitely some bitters.
And I decided I wanted to share them with you today.
Shall we?

Sometimes ya gotta realize not everyone likes what you like
Up until now, I've done designing mostly for myself. If you know me, I've changed my layout probably three times I think since I started blogging regularly in January. Yeah. I'm one of those. But that's just because I'd see something I really love, and just had to try it! So, as I didn't have anywhere else to try, I'd do it on my own. But now that I'm doing designs for others, that means that sometimes I'm designing things that aren't my style. So far I've loved everything I've produced, but I know, inevitably, I'll make a design that my client loves, and I'm like 'yknow that's just not something I'd do'. And that's okay! It's just something I'm learning to deal with. I love the girls I've worked with so far, but I know sometimes they basically had to knock me in the head and say 'hey stop it, this is what I want' when I'd go off on my random tangents in trying new designs and techniques. I think they've all come out satisfied, as have I, but yes, as a 'commercial designer' (ha), this is a new concept to me.

Minute coding glitches
You have NO idea the headaches coding can cause unless you've done it yourself. Every little punctuation mark, every little space, every little organization counts. If you put one thing in front of another, it's going to turn out completely different than if you reversed them, even if they say the same thing!! It's ridiculous. And the more I work with it the more I have to learn how to fix things when they're not turning out the way I want them. I'll literally sit with a design for an hour, trying to figure out just why this isn't working the way it is in my head, as I've done it before, as I know it -should- work, and come to find out I had one too many spaces, or forgot one, or forgot a period or little bracket { thing. It's about cause for one of those screen fisting moments, but so far, I've restrained myself.

When something works totally fine on my test blog, but decides on the client's blog, it's done
I have no idea the problem I've run into with something. I can watch it work just splendidly on the blog I use for previewing and working through kinks. But when I use the same exact template, c&p directly from said layout, it decides it's not going to work on my client's blog! I've removed things, added things, tried it about seventeen different ways, and all to no avail. I am such a perfectionist, and such a service oriented person, that if I can't deliver on something I've already shown you or told you I could do, it grates at me. Seriously. It's like this dirty little fingernail in the back of my brain, scratching, telling me I should be able to fix it but I've got some kind of mental aneurysm and can't seem to fathom the issue.
20 cool points if you know about god's fingernail reference. God I love that man

Fonts
Fonts are a nightmare sometimes. Simply put, they make or break a design. You can everything else in the bag, but if your fonts aren't matching up or look cheap and unfinished or out of sync with the rest of the 'design karma' [ha again, should market that], then it's like what's the point? That and you have to make sure that you're both understanding what the client wants. My opinion of 'girly' can be totally different than yours. I've had this conversation actually. And most times, so far, going in, my girls haven't exactly had much of an idea of the precise font they want, so before we even begin designing, there's a few hours of himming and hawing over just what font we can use. Not that it's a bad thing, but I've always got an itchy trigger finger. So the sooner I can get started on things, the better.

Communication
This was briefly alluded to in fonts. Sometimes communication is not easy through e-mails. That's the main basis of my communication, and it involves a lot of screen shots and mockups to show what's going on so far. But I think when we, perhaps two women especially, communicate, we have these preconceived notions in our head about what things are. Such as 'girly, timeless, turquoise, feminine, fun'. Those are just a few examples. Oh! And whimsical. You know how hard it was for me to wrap my mind around that word when it came to design at first? I think I'm getting a better grasp on it, but still, it somehow does not compute easily for me. But getting back to the point. We have these images and ideas already in our minds of what this word means to us. So when we say it to someone else, we expect them to already know this archetype as it applies to our own thinking. [Or at least this is how I'm perceiving it]. Sometimes that's not enough, so it's always paramount to ensure good communication. And I'll admit, sometimes I'm not the greatest at it, especially if it's getting late, or I'm in the middle of something.

All right, if you're still with me, congratulations on your commitment!
I didn't mean for this post to sound like I'm nagging,
complaining, or otherwise unappreciative of the design work I've been given.
I LOVE IT!
And there are myriad reasons that apply to what makes designing great!
Such as those aha moments of getting something brand new to work,
the content glow of accomplishing something,
the excitement in my client when I do something they love,
the accomplishment of finishing a task,
the way it forces my brain to expand in my thoughts and design ideals,
getting to know and befriending new people,
providing someone something beautiful.
and those are just the ones that come to mind off the top of my head!

So thanks for stickin with it with me guys,
and thanks for lettin me gripe a bit.
I hope your weekends are bright and beautiful!
